Lindi Hlophe, a 19 year old female from Embalenhle, Secunda who is one of the STOP ambassadors has this to say about the STOP program. “The Stop programme has helped me a lot. I have gained a lot of knowledge about HIV, now I can tell people about it. All the conversations we have had about HIV this year, I have been able to start a discussion with my family and friends.

“I have confidence to know my HIV status. I was encouraged to go and test.  I also want to make a difference in the community where I live. I believe in the message. Now I am not afraid to talk about HIV.  I can even ask my family how they feel about HIV and I am able to respond to what they say and give them feedback based on the discussion that we have had with the Tshepang Trust. I have gained a lot. I want to continue making a difference and tell people about HIV.”

“Personally this message has helped me. I think this is a good message for people my age. It is not easy for most of us to ABSTAIN because of peer pressure and media confusion, so sticking to one partner is the best thing for us to do in order to stop the spread of HIV. This is most fitting thing for us to do.” Lindi has pledged to continue to take the STOP message back to her community, family and friends.
